My life as a collector/dealer/picker started more than 50 years ago, even before I started digging bottles out of my grandparent's back yard in a quiet, little, backwater of a New England town.
Even before that I learned the art of picking at yard sales, auction and flea markets up and down the Atlantic coast with a wealth of well-experienced, family members.
Civil War artifacts, patent medicine bottles and sleepers for resale all became objects of my young attention.
Later, because of my 1st experiences digging and selling a huge variety of antique bottles from that New England backyard, I developed a love for antique glassware.
My summer days became filled with silica safaris; I dug at stream sides, searched the woods for the telltale sign of old farm dump sites and even co-opted my summer friends for bottle scrounging duties.
Years later my tastes have expanded to American art pottery, continental & Asian porcelain, folk art and so many other categories, requiring an extraordinary expenditure of money (my library is easily worth many thousands of hard-earned dollars) and time!
Since I spend so much time haunting shops and fields and even more time researching and investigating newly found artifacts, I'm continually finding great pieces that I know have value beyond my own, personal interests.
Personal highlights, for me, have included placing an incredible set of T&V Haviland Limoges plates with the St. Louis Art Museum and being invited as an appraiser to a signature New England event.
